Editing FAQ Pages

How do I edit an FAQ page?

The dataTaker FAQs Help:Editing page provides details on how to edit a page and a basic formating guide.

Note: You must be logged in as a user to be able to edit the FAQ pages. Some of the pages are protected and cannot be edited by users.

Why does my session timeout?

When you are logged on there is a 24 minutes inactivity timeout. This can be anoying if you spend a long time editing a page. If you timeout while editing then log in again and press the back button to get back to the page containing your edits. To avoid this problem, save your edits, say, every 10 minutes. Another alternative is to copy the contents of the edit box to another package, say, notebook, and then paste back into the edit box once complete.

Why can't I see the edits I just made

Depending on the browser you are using, it may cache the contents of a page. You may need to force a re-read of the entire page by:

  • Mozilla /Firefox/Safari: hold down Shift while clicking Reload, or press Ctrl-Shift-R (Cmd-Shift-R on Apple Mac)
  • IE: hold Ctrl while clicking Refresh, or press Ctrl-F5
  • Konqueror: simply click the Reload button, or press F5
  • Opera: you may need to completely clear the cache in Tools→Preferences
