dataTaker ActiveX Control
The dataTaker
ActiveX Control is a tool written for software developers to aid in the
creation of application software for use with the dataTaker DT500 and DT800 range of data loggers.
It can be used in any software development environment that supports
ActiveX technology, such as Microsoft Excel and Access, Visual
Basic, C++, C#, Labview and others.
The control provides over 60
functions for automatically finding and creating connections to dataTaker data loggers, sending
commands and unloading data, either using RS232 com ports or
TCP/IP. An
autofind function is included which can search RS232 ports or an IP
network for dataTaker data
loggers and create connections, keeping details such as
the baud rate or IP address transparent to the user.
Data can be unloaded from dataTaker data logger in either csv
format, or in the dlr format supported by DeLogger™ and DeView™, by
schedule to files on a local drive or network location. Date and
time
stamps are managed intelligently, and unloading of new data only
(Ulast) is supported. Macro buttons and a simple terminal are also
provided for sending commands manually to a dataTaker data logger.
This ActiveX control will allow
custom solutions to be easily created which are tailored exactly to a
users requirements. For example, Excel can be set up very quickly
to
connect to a dataTaker data
logger and show real time data in a graph, with buttons to start and
stop logging.
The dataTaker
ActiveX control is supplied with a sample
Terminal application. The example Excel files shows how the various
functions are used. Please take a look at the
Real Time Example Excel file with a video tutorial providing step by
step instructions this demonstrates how a graph is updated in real time
following a disconnection and subsequent reconnection from a dataTaker data logger.
