Eastern Daylight Savings Time

Postby Grant » Sun Apr 01, 2012 2:14 pm

G'Day,

I'm just wondering if there is a method I can use for undertaking this where I don't lose any data?

I stayed up till 3am last night in order to change my DT80 clock back to 2am when daylight savings ended. One mistake I feel I made was not downloading the data I had collected before I changed the clock. Anyway, when I did change the clock & download the data, I noticed the following:
* I lost all the data for the previous hour in my 1 minute log, ie when I changed the clock back to 2.03am (at 3.03am EDST), all my 1min data from the period 2.03am - 3.03am EDST had vanished & the log began again at 2.03am;
* I lost all the data for the next hour in my 10min data log - that's right, this log didn't begin again till after the clock again ticked over to 3am.
* My 1 hour log however remained unaffected.

Thanks,
Grant

Good morning Grant,

Most people who do long term logging simply don't use day light savings.
When setting the clock forward 1 hour you will get an hours gap in the data. When going back to standard time the clock is set an hour back so you will have two items of data with the same time stamp.

If you unload a full days worth of data and look at it in a text editor you will see all the data is there in the file.
If you are unloading data by time then there may be some issues with the time calculations.

Cheers
