################################################################# # Release Notes for DT5xx Series 3 firmware # ################################################################# To install new or old versions of firmware into your DT5xx Series 3 product please refer to the DT500 bootstrap mode user's guide. The checksums shown for the bootstrap loader and the datataker application can be calculated while in bootstrap mode using the following commands respectively: kf bs_start,bs_size kf dt_start,dt_size ----- Version History ----- DataTaker Firmware : Version 7.14 - 24th March 2004 (Checksum 8BBF) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Made a change to the initialisation of the display module (as used on all DT6xx products and Panel Mount Display Option, PMD) to allow for a new model of display that requires slightly different initialisation. If these new display modules are used with old versions of firmware only the top line is displayed. If upgrade is not possible you can workaround this problem by holding the scroll key down and then pressing the function shift key which will force the correct initialisation of the display. DataTaker Firmware : Version 7.12 - 4th March 2004 (Checksum 979A) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Made changes for DT53, digital only version of DT50. Ie. no analog channels, 4 digital I/O, 3 High Speed counters, no memory card. - Added 17,18,19SV to allow return of Day of Month, Month of Year, and Year number respectively. You can NOT set the date using these variables. - Fixed a bug that caused U(LAST) to return incorrect timestamps if the Unload command was the first one issued after collecting data. This is particularly relevent to users of the new LabVIEW driver which uses this command to recover data. - Added support for change to hardware to allow resistance measurement to 11KOhms. DataTaker Firmware : Version 7.10 - 23rd October 2003 (Checksum 72BB) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Fixed a bug that caused U(LAST) to return no data error if unload from a card for the first time after collecting data. This is particularly relevent to users of the new LabVIEW driver which uses this command to recover data. - A new feature has been added to allow the key command labels to be detected when signed off on the serial port (password protected). If the key label is detected then the associated command string is executed. This is very useful with SMS modems to allow arbituray commands to cause particular commands to be executed. The firmware has been changed to allow the entry of Kn commands regardless of whether a display is attached. - Reinstated the old 3wire bridge formula of BGI = (Vout /(I * 2R)) * 10^6 instead of BGI = (Vout /(I * R)) * 10^6 When using doing 3 wire bridge measurements the formula to convert to uStrain is k=2/(G.N), for four wire measurements the formula is K=4/(G.N). Note that 3 wire measurements do not implement a complete bridge so the formula required is different than for four wire measurements which always have a complete bridge. DataTaker Firmware : Version 7.08 - 20th June 2003 (Checksum 736B) ------------------------------------------------------------------ - Fixed a bug that causes timestamps returned by /T/D switches to be corrupted if the time was set backwards and overwrite (/O) switch is enabled and the store starts overwriting - Fixed a bug that caused the logger to not return any stored data if the store was completely full. This could only happen when a large time gap occured between two store records. - Fixed bug with 3SV & 4SV returning non-zero values when no card is inserted. This only effected series 3. - Fixed a bug that causes the logger to sleep when powered from mains and measuring inputs on a CEM. - Added support for the DT51, a single analog channel dataTaker. - Fixed a problem with the kernal test jig measurement failing Ibias test. - Fixed a bug that caused logger to not process special commands (^Z) properly under weird conditions (not seen in the field). DataTaker Firmware : Version 7.06 - 27th November 2002 (Checksum 3A09) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- - Fixed a bug that caused real time clock to lose 60mS every time it went into low power mode. - Fixed a bug that caused problems with Network (RS485). If the RS232 and RS485 ports are used at the same time then the RS485 network comms can be corrupted. This has been a problem for Series 3 from version 7.00. BootStrap Loader 1.02 - 27th Novemeber 2002 (Checksum AFA6) ----------------------------------------------------------- - Improved reliability of bootstrap loader startup code. DataTaker Firmware : Version 7.04 - 8th October 2002 (Checksum 91B3) -------------------------------------------------------------------- - Fixed a bug that caused the card program to be run when calibration is performed. Calibration can occur as a result of TEST command, /K command or temperature change. This bug affected Series 3 from version 7.00 to version 7.02 DataTaker Firmware : Version 7.02 - 13th August 2002 (Checksum 16B2) -------------------------------------------------------------------- - Added the BUILD command to return automated build information. BootStrap Loader 1.01 - 16th July 2002 (Checksum ACEC) ------------------------------------------------------ The following changes were made: - Changed output of messages during download of new firmware to be more useful/ readable. - Fixed some spelling mistakes in help DataTaker Firmware : Version 7.00 - 5th July 2002 (Checksum EBD7) ----------------------------------------------------------------- This is the first release of the bootstrap loader. See bootstrap mode user's guide (UM-0077-A0) for full description. Bootstrap loader : Version 1.00 - 5th July 2002 (Checksum 6D96) --------------------------------------------------------------- This is the first release of the firmware for the DT5xx Series 3. This version of firmware includes all necessary support to make the Series 3 appear functionally the same as Series 2. The following changes and enhancements make a series 3 different to a series 2: 1. New parameter: P27 – high speed counter input terminal modes. See page 18 of new concise manual (UM-0076-A0). 2. New parameter P28 – low power detect time. Number of seconds that low power condition must be active for before entering forced sleep state. 3. New system variable 16SV - number of seconds been in low power condition. 3. Support for Larger Internal Memory - now 166530 data points. 4. Support for Larger PCMCIA SRAM cards up to 4MB (1392300 data points). 5. Bootstrap mode to control factory and field programming of flash memory. This will be documented in a separate technical note that will be available on our web site (www.datataker.com) 6. Low battery power detect and forced sleep to conserve memory using replaceable lithium battery. 7. Bug fix for BGI three wire. It had a multiply by two in the formula used to linearise the sensor which has now been omitted. See page 17 of new concise manual (UM-0076-A0). 8. Units for P16 change from 100mS to 125mS. 9. Shunt resistor for measuring battery current has changed from 0.22Ohms to 0.20ohms. This means that if you are using the channel specification for measuring battery current as suggested in the concise manual 0%I(M17:188,-0.22) this will have to be changed to 0%I(M17:188,-0.20)
